The requested seating options would be great for my students because the classroom is too small to allow for any sensory spaces. I often split my classroom into different groupings, and both myself and my paraprofessional would benefit from having a separate space with wobble stools to work for those smaller groups of students. I also think it would be unique to have a classroom in the building with primarily flexible seating options, especially a resource setting in a K-8 building. We previously had one mobility chair, and the students actively fought over who received it, as if it was a prize, not realizing that it was really an accommodation, and hopefully one that I could provide! My students would benefit from the balance balls because they are movers! They are constantly requesting breaks to get up and go for a water break, a quick walk in the hallway, or just to stroll over and look out the window. With the mobility enhanced seating options, they can use some of the excess energy while seated. They will be able to bounce, move, turn, and stretch right from their new chairs.
