These books could make a huge difference for my students. Having books to read that reflect their culture, struggles and identity can help them deal with their lives. Reading about a character who resembles you is very important for a young mind. Life lessons can be learned by reading. These books are engaging and empowering and that will help reignite their love for reading! In middle school there isn't as big of a push to read like there was in elementary. Without seeing and hearing about amazing books constantly, they forget how much fun reading can be! These books will spark their interest and engagement!
