My students are working hard to understand the different elements of music, but it can be difficult by only talking about or listening. Music is something you learn by doing. Learning how to play an instrument while learning how to read music notation will be a fun way to accomplish this goal. We need 20 ukuleles, my classes can have up to 35 students, so they will also be learning how to work cooperatively in pairs. By playing ukuleles, we will be able to put into practice reading music, creating music, and practicing the elements of music. It energize my students and get them excited about learning music, it will teach them responsibility and accountability for caring for an instrument. Plus, playing an instrument is fun!
