I would first like to Thank you, the reader, for taking the time to view my story. It is appreciated beyond expression. As a second year elementary teacher, becoming established with the neccessary tools and resources needed for student learning is a task in itself. The hardest part of Special Education is having the materials needed for the wide spectrum of exceptionalities that I teach. Each student has different needs that require multiple tools and manipulatives. In order to properly service these exceptional little people, there is a great need for multiple resources for learning. However, it is not only difficult finding these materials, but funding them as well. Most of my students have sensory and fine motor needs. The materials listed such as puzzles, magnetic tracers, sorting games that require tongs to be used, all service the fine motor deficits. Some of my students require a moderate intervention with basic number skills, or letter identification. Having materials such as magnetic numbers, matching games for both letters and numbers, can all be utilized for those types of interactions. Students with sensory processing issues will also benefit from the materials on our wish list. One student in particular, who is non verbal, loves music. This student would benefit from the xylophone and musical instruments. Every item listed has a purpose for all of my students. Whether the purpose be for play time after completing their work, or as remarkable as calming down a student who is having a melt down. Please consider donating, so that I can provide the services my students need and deserve! Thank you!
