My school currently asks parents to provide calculators for their students. Out of my 85 students, 25% can't afford a calculator. I would love to have a classroom set of calculators that I can reuse year after year. My job as a teacher is to make sure my students are prepared to apply math to their everyday life. I feel that my students need to know how to appropriately and accurately use a calculator. For my students who struggle with math, either because it is difficult for them or because it doesn't interest them, use of this technology can intrigue them. My hope through this project is that I can engage more students through the use of calculators.
