Motivating the reluctant, middle school reader is not an easy task! This project will enable me to offer them a wide variety of flexible seating options with both comfort and style. Allowing them to have more options from which to choose will increase their motivation and encourage ownership of their learning. Currently, during their independent work time, I allow them to choose a location in the classroom that works for them. However, I do not have many options available at this time. I find when my students are able to use the four flexible seating options that are available, I see a marked difference in their ability to sustain their attention and an increased amount of effort! I believe making them feel more comfortable and giving them more choice is a key component in motivating them to work smarter and harder each day!
