All of my students learn best using hands-on, interactive, materials to help them become better communicators. The first step to learning for my students is for them to be engaged and have the desire to be an effective communication partner. In many instances this means creating a sensory experience for the student. The counters, hide away boxes, and sensory items give students the sensory input they crave and creates a necessary hands on learning experience. Having a tactile experience helps my students learn in their own unique way. Having appropriate tools for my students begins with having easily accessible tools for myself. I create many of the materials that my students use, in the forms of adaptive books, picture schedules, and various other visuals. Currently, the printer and supplies that are available to me are not always convenient, and I often use my home supplies to complete activities. It would help me make more productive use of my time to have supplies available in multiple locations. Thank you for helping me utilize and/or create the most effective tools to improve overall communication and language for my students.
