Giving special education students flexible seating options will allow them to have a space that will cater to their individual needs. Most of my students display disruptive behavior due to the fact that they need to move. Traditional seating is preventing them from moving, therefore they have no option but to stand; which disrupts the learning environment for the other students. Having flexible seating options will allow them to fidget without causing a disruption to the rest of the class. Varied seating will provide disabled students much needed flexibility. Bean bags and carpet coupled with clip boards will be used during independent learning, and yoga ball chairs and wobble chairs will be used during small group. Students will have the option to choose the seat that best fits their learning style for the day.
