Our district recently adopted a new program to monitor lessons daily for our Montessori students. This program helps teachers see growth or the lack there of on a daily basis. Being able to see growth helps bring enrichment to the individual students’ lessons every day. Also, seeing regression helps inform the teacher that additional support is needed right away. This program also allows daily parent access to the progress their child is making as well as photographs and anecdotal notes made by the teacher. This communication is key for early intervention with all students. My Montessori students complete stupendous work daily that needs to be captured so that confidence levels are high to ensure student achievement. Montessori work is hands-on and has very little paper-pencil evidence. The best way to gather evidence is by taking photos of the work they complete. Due to privacy laws, it is prohibited to take photos of students on my personal device. Having a classroom iPad would give me the ability to provide and archive evidence of lessons completed to parents, administration, as well as myself. The iPad will easily allow me to upload photos and anecdotal notes into the program my district has chosen to monitor progress of all students.
