With an iPad in the classroom, I will be able to use literacy programs like IXL and Moby Max during station rotations. There is evidence that in children with cognitive delays iPad apps can boost language use and social interaction. I have the proper training to be able to utilize this technology appropriately. For children who lack motor skills, manipulating between a keyboard, mouse, and screen can be very difficult and overwhelming; the touch screen and all-in-one components of an iPad make it easier for special needs kids to not only use but master the process. Finally, I can use this as a reward for my students who are on behavior plans. Not only can iPads be filled with high quality educational software but they are also mostly free. There are thousands of effective and fun educational apps are available for free. Even the apps developed by professional software companies rarely cost more than a dollar or two. This is extremely manageable on a teachers salary.
