With a new day comes a new challenge. In regards to my students, that challenge is reading comprehension. Everyday we take on the task of breaking down informational text and literature to further our understanding of what we read and to apply our standards. Standing in the way of tackling this challenge are two things: broken/limited headphones and paper supply. Hear it, read it, understand it, accomplish it! There are several steps that are needed in order to achieve reading goals. First, my students need to "hear it"! I have students who benefit from being able to hear a text read aloud. Although some can listen to me read aloud in class, I have students that require translator services and prefer audio. Having brand new headphones will eliminate the obstacle of not being able to provide audio read aloud due to broken or a limited number of headphones. Although everyone does not require read aloud, every reader in my classroom benefits from having a hard copy of their required texts. This gives my scholars the chance to properly annotate and analyze the text. Because we have to print off so many texts throughout the year, we continuously run low on copy paper. A copy paper shortage creates limitations and problems such as sharing documents, not being able to annotate, only having digital copies (which does not help those without computers), and not meeting IEP/504 expectations. Thanks in advance for your heartfelt donation.
