Our school embarks on a Million Words Read challenge every year. The purpose behind this challenge is not only to help close the "Million Word Gap" but also foster a love for reading. The scholars love the idea of reaching a million words and they have completely bought into the challenge the only problem is...our school does not have a library!
Each classroom has its own library but as you may imagine they are not expansive. The scholars often expressive their desire to have more choices but due to limited budgets this is seldom a possibility. As you may imagine, trying to build a broad collection of books on a teacher's salary poses limitations. Though several parents have opted into opening public library accounts, we still have so many scholars who do not have access to a wide-range of books, which they so desperately deserve.
I hoping with your help, I can offer a wider selection of books that appeals to my scholars preferences, allows them to make connections with characters, and aids in their discovery of the world! Help develop a leader today through supporting a reader!
Thank you!
