Sound phones are used to support reading, they allow students to read independently in a group while focusing on their reading and strategies. In first grade, readers are developed and a love of reading is fostered! Research shows that sound phones support phonemic and phonological awareness skills, both which are crucial to learning to read. In addition, both sets of stools will complete our writing and collaboration stations, where students work together with peers on important activities and projects! Our writing station is a station in which students work daily on writing down their thoughts, ideas, and opinions. In addition, students publish and illustrate their own books to be shelved in the school library. Our collaboration station is used daily for guided reading, small group instruction, and projects. Projects such as our Ocean Dive are centered our the collaboration station!
