The novel sets in this project will provide me with easier access to quality literature to use with my gifted students. Students will be able to read engaging modern fiction novels, as well as a non fiction novel. The characters in the novels are real and students can identify with their struggles and challenges. I plan to use these novels along with support materials and resources from the Duke TIP Book Club to design instructional opportunities to read and analyze more advanced literature and to relate the experiences of characters to the lives of my students. Making learning meaningful for students is crucial to their success.
