I teach students with autism. My students often have a difficult time understanding the full meaning behind our activities, experiences, or the learning environment (classroom). Having a well-organized classroom can help my students to anticipate what is happening during instruction - the hanging file and storage drawers are much needed. Gathering the materials for a project or an activity can often cause stress in itself – if my students know where to go to get the required materials and have ready access to the materials then pressure is lifted. Students with autism often have many sensory needs or become over-stimulated in the classroom – providing earbuds and headphones can help with noise sensitivity and focus. We are in a lower socioeconomic area and my students do not always or cannot always provide the supplies they need. The colored pencils, pencils and pens, folders, and other school supplies I have listed would help greatly. My kids have progressed so far this year already, any help to further their progress would be greatly appreciated.
