The students in my classroom are learners with a severe cognitive impairment. As you can imagine, they have all had their world and routine turned upside down by this pandemic. The primary focus of our curriculum in my classroom is to work on and build pre-vocational and life skills. Most of my students have limited mobility and are non-verbal. The pandemic has forced us to do all of our learning virtually. My students just don't have all the normal resources that we would have at school to work on their skills at home. One thing that we work on daily is folding clothing and towels. We do this with the use of a commercial clothing folder. It is a very handy tool! This is something that my students are familiar with, and it is a task that could potentially get them a job in a supported work environment. My hope is that I can get enough money raised to provide all of my students with one so that they do not lose this valuable skill while we are quarantined at home.
