We are using the Amy Lemons reading program this year. This program gets my students excited about reading independently due to high interest in the books. This program introduces students to rich vocabulary through trade books. Comprehension, writing, fluency, and hands on art activities are addressed with each book. Using these trade books in my classroom will continue to increase student engagement and desire to read! Salt in His Shoes talks about Michael Jordan and encourages our students to reach for their dreams. These Shoes teaches compassion. The Three Javelinas brings diversity to our classroom and reaches our Hispanic students.
