My classroom is full of hands-on learners who really like science and animals. I realized this a few weeks in when we started our Reading lessons on pets, and they began to ask for a class pet. Learned even further when they began to request to watch Wild Kratts for our afternoon Science lessons. Every afternoon we do a science lesson, whether using Wild Kratts or a book on animals that someone has chosen for that day. During the first few months of school, I gave them the assignment of listing different possible classroom pets. Over break, I got our new rabbit, named Charlie, from a family that was moving and could not keep him!
