Flexible and alternative seating gives students a choice and allows them to be a part of how they learn. This project will help students during various independent, large, paired, and small group activities throughout the school day. Currently, we have a few carpeted areas in the room, student desks, and a few different tables that students use during instructional time. Students are encouraged to complete their assignments in areas where they can be most productive. The additional seating resources in this project will allow students to stay focused and engaged during instruction, giving them ownership in their learning and development. Allowing controlled flow and movement in the classroom gives students a sense of comfort and belonging. It contributes to a positive and safe learning environment in which the freedom of choice is displayed.
