My most important objective when I teach science is to foster curiosity and exploration. There is ALWAYS something to look at! We have two microscopes, they are in constant use. i.e. Cross Curricular--The 1st and 2nd graders have a fascination with looking at the details of coins. The 5th graders took bugs apart and looked at the exoskeleton closely. Kids always want to see things. Kids are always curious. Kids want to look close up. It doesn't matter what we are doing, some child wants to see something more clearly. Students will come in from recess or from their other classrooms or bring things from home. They are so curious. I have tried hard to instill this within them. They, because they live in a rural area, have lots of places to explore. It. Is. So. Cool.
