I teach in a rural area where my students do not have proper access to a wide variety of books, especially those that are told from different perspectives. Our school doesn't even have a library for students to find the perfect book. Because of this, many of the students do not see the importance of reading and do as little reading as possible. I want to teach my students that reading isn't just a chore - it can be a fun outlet that not only brings them to new places, but can also teach them about themselves and the world they live in. I hope to improve the literacy of the students at my school, and help them make better decisions regarding the world they live in, by providing a library filled with high interest and diverse books!
