Instilling a love of reading in my students is something I have always loved to do. One of my students' favorite things we do each year is to read the books nominated for the North Carolina Children's Book Award and then they are able to vote for which one is their favorite. These books introduce students to a variety of genres, reading levels, and cultures. These are always the most popular books in my library for years after they are nominated and students are always excited to find one available on the shelf to check out. Right now, my students are all virtual so I will be reading them to the students, but as soon as they come back to school, I know they will be looking for these books to check out.
