Setting up an Electronics Student Learning Center will transform our classroom environment regarding the learning opportunities that we can offer our students. Currently we can only perform simple, basic physics experiments using largely homemade equipment. This does not allow us to introduce our students to rigorous explorations of advanced phenomena or technologies such as electronics. As a public charter school our annual physics budget is less than $850. The equipment that we need to engage our students around these exciting technologies is beyond our reach, so a Wishes for Teachers grant will finally give our physics students access to challenging, relevant laboratories that reflect the most advanced aspects of our course. I will also be able to use this equipment for classroom demonstrations, extracurricular projects through our Physics and Engineering Club and for outreach activities with local elementary schools and middle schools.
