Legos at my school provide learning opportunities many of my students would not get at home. We will use Lego projects as springboard to encourage academic growth across a variety of subject areas. All of my students have IEP's so hands on learning is very important within my classroom. They will use them in math to practice basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, and the differences between quantities. Those students working on letter recognition will build letters and numbers. Some students will use them to build letters while other will write sentences about their creations. The students will have time to work together and problem solve. These students need activities that encourage social interaction with those around them. Building and problem solving are important for them to practice and learn.
