My students need high interest reading materials to encourage them to engage in regular reading practice and to develop a life long passion for reading. Strong reading skills are necessary to help students become successful in life and an actively participate as a global citizen. Our students need access to a variety of interesting books to spark their interest in daily reading practice and to encourage discussion about literature. Graphic novels will help hook reluctant readers and introduce students to a different genre of reading. Students will make book recommendations to their peers after reading the novels and discuss strategies the author used to develop the characters.
