I want to provide a classroom where my special education students have access to all the opportunities for learning. They need appropriate safety gear to operate in our science labs as well as certain activities or items that support their specific needs. I encourage inquiry-based learning in the classroom that allows the students to ask and answer questions about the world around them. Also, our class has very specific needs to address the different learning disabilities in the room such as autism and emotional disturbance. In addition, some of my students are struggling readers in which I engage in even smaller group instruction. They need support managing their disability and that is why I want to encourage more sensory manipulatives in our classroom.
