6th grade is such a special time for my students, this is their first time coming to middle school. For most of them, they have had some introduction to science, but most of them really haven't had a lot of experience with science. I get the high honor of really introducing them to so many core principals of science in their first year of middle school. Science is one of those subjects that is best taught when students can learn hands on, when they can really experience the different topics that we are covering, that is where Merge Cubes come in. Merge cubes gives the students an opportunity to virtually see so many of the different topics that we are talking about right there in front of them. With different ways to interact with these topics, it really addresses the students as a whole, getting them away from just the paper and pencil approach of learning. Not only can these be used in my classroom, but I can also record videos of the lessons that we use with these so my students can still receive the benefits of these cubes while we continue with distance learning until we are back in the classroom. These merge cubes will not only give my students hands on experience with the different topics that we are learning about in science, but they will also give my students more of an opportunity to work together as classmates. While they are working together we will be holding more class discussions to give each student a voice as to what they experienced in their learning. I am so excited to see the positive impact that these will make for the years to come in my classroom with the hundreds of students that will walk through my door.
