Technology dominates every aspect of our modern day lives. From the time we awake until the time we lay down to sleep we are utilizing various forms of technology. As a nation, we are constantly evolving and moving forward with and through technological advances. This truth is evident in our classrooms today. Our children are learning through new innovative ways. For many of my english-language learners technology such as the Ipads requested for my classroom, students can use them to play and learn language through apps and sites that can translate and produce content for them better than that of the instructor. With the Ipads As the teacher I can use digital tools to adapt materials with translations in both languages to improve comprehension and communication. In addition, oral language development focused on listening and speaking skills can be enhanced in two or more languages. The ipads will also give higher level students who may become bored or uninterested in the curriculum an opportunity for self expression without replacing other classroom learning materials. The ipads give students an opportunity to explore the world outside of our classroom. While I understand that technology has its disadvantages .I plan to combat those disadvantages by limiting the usage of the Ipads and also using the ipads as a connector to the other classroom resources. For example, when we read a story about a families and communities in Asia during our culture unit, A video of children playing in those Asian communities and customs to enhance understanding. All in all, when used appropriately these Ipads will enhance my students critical thinking and social interaction skills. Help me to make a shift in my students approach to learning by making it more fun challenging, exciting and up to date.
