As I mentioned previously, I frequently utilize station learning in my classroom. Students self select their station after the knowledge expansion portion of the lesson and one of the stations is targeted IXL practice. IXL is a leveled math platform that my students use in order to build fluency with new mathematical concepts. They receive immediate feedback and I am able to see what they're struggling with in real time. My students love interacting with math through technology. They appreciate the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively with their peers. At the end of each unit, I assign my students a summative project that always has a math based writing component. I allow students time in class to complete these projects because they benefit from using each other as thought partners. Currently, there are 8 Chromebooks that live in my classroom My ultimate goal is to acquire 30 chromebooks in order to have a 1:1 student to technology ratio. These additional two Chromosomes will help us reach our goal.
