Our school is in the southernmost part of our county, separated from the rest of the county by a large lake: this very much isolates our community. A number of our students are the second generation to attend our school and 80% of our students participate in the free or reduced-price lunch program and nearly 50% of our students are English language learners. Our school is the hub of the community and is an important part of the culture in our area. Our families are welcomed and our students are loved. Some of my students come from challenging home situations, and despite that, they are compassionate, smart, hardworking, and absolutely love to come to school.
