I recently returned to the classroom. In the time that I was out of the classroom, I attended a lot of professional development to help students learn in the area of math and reading. For this project, I am hoping to get some classroom materials that I have learned about the last few years to help my students learn and stay organized. We are requesting bins, fraction tiles, scissors, ten frames and more for concrete models to help build their understanding in math. In third grade students are introduced to many new math concepts. It is important that students have a concrete, pictorial and abstract model when learning. Many of the items that I chose will help students see a visual model for new concepts that I can present on the magnetic white board at the front of the class. Students will also have an interactive notebook for math. Many pictorial examples will be cut out and placed in the notebook as a reference for future use.
