I had a student who learned how to oil paint in junior year, and in senior year she began creating a body of work unified by a central idea or theme. Because her work consisted of oil paintings, a medium she learned through regular practice in my classroom, she won major awards including Public School Art, an exhibition at the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I want my current students to learn oil painting techniques and its wonderful versatility as well as concepts to enter competitions. Oil paints are expensive and not all students can afford them, so I am asking for donations to ensure my entire class learns the medium so they could develop a strong portfolio for college scholarships and beyond. Thank you and your contributions will be greatly appreciated!
