Students will access digital, historical documents, media and newspapers to learn firsthand accounts of historical events. Students will use national archives and other online databases of original documents to place the documents in context. Reading the original documents in the original formats will allow my students to get up close and personal with history. For example, students reading letters from World War I in the original handwriting will make the experience of soldiers that much more real. History can seem too far away to teenagers; those who lived will become more alive to them through this access and exploration.
