This experience is life-changing. It brings students from NJ outside of their comfort zone and teaches them about history, culture, and the socio-economics of a Reservation. While our days in South Dakota include service, the greatest take away our students gain is from being exposed to a different culture. They bring this insight back to New Jersey with them and educate the school community on social injustices that exist within our national borders. In South Dakota students explore sacred spots like Bear Butte. The days of service teach kids to be selfless and empathetic. Our students have so much to gain from learning about the culture and tradition of our Native American population.

About my class
