Science Book Club gives my students the opportunity to explore and learn about Science topics by reading fiction and nonfiction books of their choice. "Tesla's Attic" by Eric Shusterman and Elfman is the first book in the Accelerati trilogy. This middle school age appropriate fiction book is about a 14 year boy who discovers objects with extraordinary properties in his attic. It is filled with lots of scientific principles and imagination! Publishers Weekly writes that "this entertaining and often surprising first book is well-timed to take advantage of the resurgent interest in Nicola Tesla". A class set of 30 books will allow students to break into reading groups and conduct meaningful discussions each week. Students will be able to connect the real world to scientific concepts being presented in the book.
