With struggling students, hands-on learning sticks more permanently. Having basic supplies, like construction paper and glue, help our instruction become more interactive. Living in a technology crazed world, a lot of our children come to school today with little exposure to these materials. Each unit, we try to create a project that involves several modes of fine motor skills. This semester, we will be learning about winter animals, habitats, and ending with our spring unit on insects and flowers. With the additional support, the children in my classroom will be able to explore themed ideas and create individualized projects. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. About 75% of our students in the school fall below the poverty level. At the beginning of the year, most of my students did not have the supplies they needed to start school and relied on donations. These supplies will allow the children to independently bring to life an animal with their winter animal report and design their own habitat.
