Our class has focused heavily on the injustices in our justice and prison system. Every project, text, and in-class writing pushes students to think critically about race, poverty, and the law. During their junior year, we read Just Mercy while collaborating with The California Innocence Project to review real felony case files for wrongful convictions. I moved up to senior year with this group of students and in this first semester we read The New Jim Crow to look in-depth at systemic issues and performed a modernized version of 12 Angry Men. We have long been fans of Bryan Stevenson and are floored to see his work represented on the big screen. I would love to be able to take my classes to see this film and your donation would make that possible. My goal would also be to open up this opportunity to other students in our school who are interested in law and justice.
