My students complete many projects throughout our time together. Although I provide them with a lot of vocabulary to include in their projects, they often need a dictionary to look up additional words that they would like to include. I also encourage this, because I think its great when students want to learn beyond the lesson. Although students have access to technology, I still think its important that they learn the basics- and that includes being able to navigate a dictionary. This not only helps them understand how a foreign language dictionary works, but also reinforces their understanding of the Spanish (and English) alphabet. The dictionaries we currently have are very old, falling a part, and not entirely appropriate for my 6th and 7th graders. It would be great to have a class set that is more current, appropriate for younger students and in usable condition.
