Students will have completed a unit on natural disasters and recovery capitalism in their previous semester, and this unit builds on these critical thinking skills by incorporating the power of story and fiction in shaping our collective future. I want them to look closely at fictional dystopias so they can make connections and critically examine the world we live in today. In an English Language Arts classroom, literature circles are an exceptional way to engage students in reading and critical thinking. However, it's important that each reader has a copy of their book to take home, read at their leisure, and have available to use in and out of class. I have 142 freshmen and am asking for 50 books to complete the book requirements for my Climate Fiction Unit. These titles help supplement titles borrowed from other schools like Zeitoun and California Blue. Your donations help ensure access to authors of climate justice that are diverse and honor the lived experiences of many different frontline communities.
