In order to meet and work with every student daily, my co-teacher and I have created reading stations in our classroom. We each meet with 2 groups a day. While we are working with our groups, the other students participate in a variety of reading and writing activities during stations. One of most popular stations is our listening station. At this station, students find a book that they want to listen to, put the CD in the CD player, and follow along as the book is read to them. While I do love this station, I would like to add more options to it. Leap Frog has created books and a pen so that students can go over the words as the pen reads it out loud to them. The students are still able to have the book read to them, but they also have to follow along word by word. This will help with their listening comprehension, as well as their sight word recognition. I remember when I was their age, Leap Frog was how I learned to read. Leap Frog offers such a variety of levels that would meet the needs of all the students in the classroom.
