I am requesting book shelves to create a reading nook to work with my Special Education students to improve their reading. We are wanting to start back up our DYAD reading program where we pair a strong reader with a struggling reader to help them practice fluid reading at a higher reading level. These bookshelves and supplies will help me set a space to do this reading program and allow students to pick out books that interest them and will get students to be excited and fall in love with reading. Reading is also a great escape from the pressures of social interactions and education demands. This reading nook will help close the gap between the new emotional demands while improving fluency and comprehension.
