Have you ever wondered what happens to shoes once you're done with them? I have implemented a program that allows my students to take old shoes ( Nike, Reebok, Jordan, Lebron and Air Force One) and allow them to clean and restore them to wearable condition. 1 in 5 children lives in poverty, that's a reality right here in the United States and shoes are one of the most visible signs of poverty. We will use the airbrush compressor and paints to enhance our program. The program gives students (who are impoverished) a chance to own a nice pair of sneakers, and teaches them a skill they can use through out life. The shoes will not just be for students in the program. The shoes will go out to students who also attend the school. Hands-on projects engage students who are tactile or kinesthetic learners, who need movement to learn best. This will also engage students who are auditory learners, who talk about what they're doing, and visual learners, who have the opportunity to see what everyone else is creating.
