The Elephant and Piggie series books will continue to enhance the variety of books that I provide in my classroom library. This series is authentically written and has been chosen based on the student's interest in the characters. The books are leveled just right for the beginning stages of reading. The consistent use of characters motivates students to want to know more about the characters and therefore want to read more. As a class, we will discuss character development and story events. Students benefit from retelling the story, a skill that is important to develop in kindergarten students. Students will choose stories that interest them, increasing the volume of books they read, therefore developing their reading abilities. Independent reading time will be a joyous experience that will help my students grow stronger in reading. These books will allow them to be exposed to authentic English fun stories that are interesting and improve their reading and language development. Every year, I get to see my students become readers and that makes me beyond proud! I want all of my students to become successful readers, and I think these materials will help that come to fruition.
