Our literacy and English proficiency scores have been historically low at our school. New teachers partnered with Project Based Learning training and new curriculum have made a huge difference in student learning. We've been projected at 25-33% statistically significant growth in English proficiency this year alone. We've seen so many gains, and we don't want to lose them! We have a three week holiday break, so to ensure that we don't see students losing growth, we have committed to providing every student in our school with a new book that they can take home and keep. We don't have a library in our school, and 100% of our student population lives in poverty, so new books are not something our students are used to receiving. Students are buzzing about the fact that they're getting a book that they get to keep!
