A student is habitually late to class. Finally, the student makes a change and, because of their efforts, is no longer late. I can acknowledge that change by offering them a snack! Another student is so intimidated by having to read out loud. When reading, her voice cracks and you can even hear her voice trembling. To honor her efforts, I can offer her a snack. A third student just arrived to the States from another country and has limited English. He has to present a project in front of the class. Not only is presenting a huge challenge, but having limited English makes it even more so. To honor his courage, I offer them a snack.
