Teachers never stop shopping for their classrooms and their students. Black Friday, I saw a Pictionary Game that can be used with electronic devices. As we are a 1:1 School for Apple iPads, I picked this up to try for our classroom to reinforce vocabulary. I was so excited! I tried this at home and it worked perfectly. However, my trial run at school wrote a different story. Connectivity issues, visibility issues and logistics stood in the way. However, with a Toshiba 65 TV with Apple TV connection, our classroom will bring learning, engagement and laughter! Presentations, vocabulary games, and overall learning will be a breeze! More time can be centered on learning and playing learning games rather than on connecting devices with many wires and cords. More time can be spent on student engagement rather than on troubleshooting connectivity. Luckily, the day I tried out Pictionary with my Promethean Board and my iPad, I had others observing to help me along the way. After consideration, we borrowed a TV and the students had a blast! My students ask me EACH AND EVERY DAY if we can use it again. My students have also brainstormed ways that we can use both the current technology we have and the TV with Apple TV Connection. A few ways they would like to do this is through learning centers. They would like to connect their iPads through mirroring to the TV to help practice for their STEM Grand Challenges. Another way is playing the Pictionary game in small groups. Even greater: Parallel Teaching. I will teach one group using one device and another group of students will become experts in that content and teach the other half of the class. Seeing their excitement for learning grow is my top goal!
