When my students get the wiggles during desk work, we frequently have to stop the lesson to move about. This disruption in learning takes children 20 minutes on average to engage back into the learning. Such precious time is lost and small gains in learning are made. When I brought in yoga balls, my students excitement was contagious. They didn't even notice that the movement on the ball was keeping their attention to learning twice as long. Even adults have the need for movement. My students will be engaged in learning while they are able to move in their seats. They will have a since of choice in how they learn best. This choice makes them aware of HOW they learn. I want to bring all possible tools to my students to close the learning gap in my classroom.
