My students with intellectual disabilities and other significant developmental disabilities need skills to live independently one day, such as to tell time and count money. They can use the telling time learning clock and making cents money game to learn these skills in a fun way. They can use the weather and seasons game to learn how to check the weather and dress appropriately. They can use multisensory materials, such as foam paint, to remember the spelling of their first and last names. They can use the learning sight word chest, the sight word sentence board, and the magnetic bug toss to learn sight words and basic sentence sequencing skills so they can communicate in the world. They also need to learn letters and numbers as a foundation to all of these skills. With these essential skills, I am confident that my students will be set for success and be able to get jobs and become independent members of society!
