This year, in an effort to provide an art curriculum that emphasizes equity, diversity and inclusion, my students will be studying art, artists and cultures from around the world. This comprehensive set of books will enhance those lessons in a myriad of ways. I will be reading the books to them, the students will be allowed to read to each other and self, the students can use the books as visual resources, and finally, these books will provide introduction to countries and cultures my students have never heard of. Making the world a kinder, more accepting place starts with teaching children about the world around them. Placing value on art, people, and cultures around the world gives students an appreciation for them, regardless of whether or not they will ever meet.
