5th Grade students are often reaching that middle school mentality where they are reluctant to try new things and everything is boring. It can be a struggle to find relevant material in the music classroom that will not only teach the elements and vocabulary of music, but also hold the student's interest. So many of my students love the idea of playing the guitar, but I just don't have the money or resources to help them achieve that. After doing some research, I discovered that Ukulele's were easy to learn and fun to play and would be the perfect way to engage my older students while still teaching them the music curriculum.
